This anthology seeks to provide a service. Our world moves at an increasingly rapid pace; words and memories become disposable, and we often find ourselves stopping to ask, “how did we get here?” This book serves as a record of our world as it changed.
Much has been said about 2020. It was easily the most traumatic year in my life, personally, and I know that the work of creatives around the world reflected this trend as well. Now that some distance has been achieved, perhaps we are able to look at the disjointed and unprecedented evens of the previous years with something resembling a reflective acceptance.
I ask the reader to be prepared for stories dealing with sexual assault, gun violence, and other challenging topics. We publish these works not to trigger or to shock our audience, but because they are intrinsically tied to the conversations and events we experienced in 2020, both as individuals, and as a collective society.
