Great stuff in this issue. I especially enjoyed Laura Kopchick’s “Dear _____”. The epistle lets the reader come in just close enough to the narrator so that the ‘moment’ where the infant daughter undergoes heart surgery it is reader’s heart that is left in limbo. That moment made more solemn by the ‘savage’ pecking apart of the squirrel. A final image that seems oddly cannibalistic.
