“Peter always waits for them to come to him. And, one by one, they always do. He waves to the barman to hit him again. A brunette who was always given her birthday present a full week late, cuts through her conversation to catch his eye. One by one, they come to him.”

Great issue–Most impressively written thriller by Jos O’Connell, it was estranged up to the very last word. Most definitely worth the read, a great modern commentary.
I love “That Guy” by Megan Dobkin. She just nails it!
Love the hip dialogue in “That Guy”. Ms. Dobkin has an acute insight and sense of humour.
Gasped at the end of Jos O’Connell’s ‘What If We Are All Monsters,’ an incredible plot twist and ending!
Can’t get enough of Crack The Spine and their authors and this issue was AMAZING!!!!!
Megan Dobkin has caught my attention with her writing. “That Guy” is very cool. I want to read more by Megan Dobkin.
Love this!
Fresh, sensitive. Ms. Dobkin has a special talent!
Edited: Ms. Dobkin’s single paragraph grabs and establishes a story-line we are left dis-satisfyingly hanging by, because we want to know how Peter’s charming inherency unfolds. One is reminded of Marquez’s “Love in the Time of Cholera”, when attraction and love lay in wait for many decades, and only ripen with time.
I enjoyed Megan Dobkin’s piece because it made me think of my many days spent sitting in bars, seeing the “popular” guy wrangle the girls and be the center of attention. We all know who “that guy” is. Well done!
Interesting grouping with some considerable promise. “That Guy” stands out for its word choice, vivid characterization and humor. I want to read more by Megan Dobkin.
