Purposeful? Or mistype in the title…
No matter – here you are. This seems a more gentle piece with a similar haunting disclosure of two side of experience: self and observer of self…You introduction (though not a formal true introduction) is like a slow camera pan to introduce context….the garage – that empty holding cell containing that which moves us. Then enters the vulnerability. The “dance” with life’s darker edges which, despite the pain and truth of “clandestine” experiences, has its moments. Withdrawing from that hole, black, place/space, the mundane is almost light…being saved by mere non-titillation – speaking of “minor objects as The clock hands stopped” – increasing desire. The turn around. Speaking about the edge and shift perhaps….the agreement of self by self. Wonderful piece – softer exploration….Less personalized in tone but seemingly very personal. Interesting that your reference to women, woman, or a subject in particular is broader here, vague– that’s how it feels (though you have targeted a subject in your use of “you” s)….

I raise my eyebrow for both of these new pieces speak of dance… to me that is a liberation, hmmmmm. What is it and what it is….that no no place where guilt and punishment heighten experience. The mingling of two understandings, in hindsight I suspect, the rules and the ecstasy in breaking them….”ice from her breasts”… the dance towards the “approaching glass” – all breakable, translucent yet hard (ha! Interesting). Your yé yé reference is interesting, a softer elicitation like your previous poem. The young and the sexy – youth and bitterness of pleasure wrapped in old way, teachings, religious grips. The need to uncover, again more disclosure, slowly – like removing a bandaid from a wound. Healing (maybe) in reflection..
Both new pieces are gentler. I hear your voice but it whispers in these. Really wonderful Peter.
